About

I’m Frank Astin, a senior full-stack developer based in Cumbria, UK, with nearly two decades of experience in web development.

I began building websites at the age of 15, inspired by my father, who worked as a software developer at Fujitsu. This early exposure led to a long-standing interest in both software engineering and digital creativity. In my late teens, I was active in digital music production and DJing around Manchester, which helped shape my approach to creative problem-solving.

In 2014, I started my professional development career as a junior developer at Textmimedia in Manchester. There, I was mentored by a senior developer and gained strong foundations in object-oriented programming and MVC architecture using the Zend Framework.

After leaving Textmimedia, I worked across a range of contract roles throughout Greater Manchester, broadening my technical experience and industry exposure. In 2016, I relocated to the Lake District and transitioned into freelancing, working with clients via PeoplePerHour.

In 2024, I took on a contract role at We Are Digital in Kendal.

In 2025, I founded Fuseolution, a software company focused on building modern, open-source web technology.

I am currently developing three open-source projects:

NodePost — a complete web creation framework

WPSiteSync — a WordPress plugin for synchronising two WordPress sites

NodeGooey — a Node.js native application framework

My work focuses on scalable architecture, performance, and creating tools that simplify complex web development workflows.

In my spare time I enjoy Yoga, Tai Chi, and Long Distance Cycling.
